[RPGXP]: Concept of Moving Character into another region


I’m back to show you how to move the main character into another scene or map. The misconception of other Newbie RPGXP Developers or just exploring into Game Development is that they think that the original map is extended though the truth is there are many maps directing into the main map. Actually when you play 2D Games or even 3D Games when your character stepped into some point of the field you will end up triggering some functions like enemies appearing, secret places will be unfold and others. One example of this concept is that when you are playing Final Fantasy games the 2D one is that when you enter the door of a house your character will be transferred into the inner house though that is another map. This Blog will make you understand other functions as well.

In the RPGXP workspace

Here I have already designed a map that will be used to transfer the character though the functions are not yet set it is just a plain design and the Character Position is already set in the middle of the bridge I made. As you can see there is only One map present in the game so we cannot transfer the character until there is two maps or more present.

To create a map if you don’t know is by Right-clicking below the MAP001 and then New Map.

When you create a new map it is plain white or without design and if you are confused why when I created a new map there’s already a design no I have already designed it before I screenshot it.

Adding Function

Okay to enable to pop up the function window/Event Window is that first make sure you are in the Event Layer or You have clicked the Blue Cube in the upper left side between those three sheets of paper and the Pencil tool then double click the region or coordinates which you want to set your function so I chose the right end side to make it more realistic that it will transfer after walking into the region. Now when the Event Window has popped up press Enter then Find the “Transfer Player…” Click that.

Now when you clicked the “Transfer Player…” button this will pop up(Image Below) now there are Two different ways to appoint the place where you want the character to appear. First is Direct appointment and it is the most easiest way to do it and that will be the function will be using. I will explain the Appoint with variables below.

The Image below will be the result when you clicked the button with an arrow in the Direct appointment function. The Direct appointment function is easy as I said because you will just click the region and OK and apply that’s it. In the case of Appoint with variables and if you are a bit nerdy Map ID is the Name of the map so you will be Entering MAP002 then the size of MAP002 is 20 width x 15 height so you will be inputting in Map X: 0 and in Map Y: 12.

Now when you have applied the transfer function your character can transfer now into the right side map though he cannot go back into the middle map again because there is no function in MAP002 to transfer your character into the middle map/MAP001. In the Image below I added one optional function the “Show Text…” so after your character has been transferred into the Map002 the text will appear and I set the text “I’m in the right side!”.

Now when your done with the functions it will look like in the image below. Now when you notice in the “Trigger Group Box”(with the function Action Button etc.) I changed it to “Player Touch”. If this event is Triggered by the “Action Button” this event will only function if the player has pressed the button for response, if this event is Triggered by the “Player Touch” this event will only function when your character steps INSIDE the region, if this event is Triggered by the “Event Touch” this event will only function when your character steps the surrounding region/box of the event region/box, if this event is Triggered by the “Autorun” this event will function automatically at the start of the game and it will transfer your character into the another map at the start of the game and finally if this event is Triggered by the “Parallel Process” this event will only function if other Event Region/box calls out THIS event.

Now do the same thing in the MAP002 add the function “Transfer Player…” and add “Show text…” though I changed the text “I’m back in the middle!” so let’s test the game.

Inside the Game

Now as you can see the image below our character is not inside the region box that we have set our function so when our character stepped inside that region box he will be transferring into the MAP002.

Now in the image below pertains that our character has been transferred and the text showed up. In MAP002 the Region box that I have set the function is the player’s current position as you see the image below but the function will not function unless the character goes away and goes back into that region/event box.

Now In the Image below the Character is now outside the region/event box and will be walking inside the region/event box. As I said the event will only function if the character goes outside the region where you transferred and goes back in the region box to trigger the function of that current region/event box.

Now the character has entered the region/event box so the text showed up “I’m back in the middle!” so that’s it! I have covered the concept of moving character into another region.

[Autodesk Maya]: Adding Glow in an Object


Hello Guys I will be sharing what I learn from roaming around the internet and it is hard to find so I made this blog. Autodesk Maya is used for 3D Graphical Images and Movies. So I will be teaching some methods in this software little by little so that you wont be confused in some techniques that I use. Sorry for the low quality images.

Create an Object/Nurb/Surfaces/Polygon

So before we add a Glow in an object we must have an object first so Create a simple Sphere.

Appearing Menu and Assigning Material

So in order to make the menu appear for the selected object you must hold right click and point it to the “Assign New Material…” and then release the right click and a menu will appear again.

Then there are sets of materials can be used into your object but in case if you want it to have a Glowing Effect you must use Blinn(with the red circle indicator) because it has the Special Effects function in those materials.

Changing Color of an Object

When you assigned the Blinn material into your object an Attribute Editor will appear in the right side of the screen like the first image above. So if you want to change the Color of the Object just click that Colored Box beside the Label Color(or with the Red Circle Indicator) and choose what you desire. The Color of the Glow depends on the Color of the Material so be careful so in the Second image above I picked the color red.

Adding Glow!

Now when you are satisfied with your object’s color so scroll down in the “Attribute Editor” and Find the “Special Effects” Tab and click that to show the Adjustment bar for the Glow Intensity. So when you see the Glow Intensity Adjustment bar so you can either use 0.000 to 1.000 so the higher the number the more intense the glow so I adjusted my object to 1.000 Glow Intensity.

How to view the Glowing Object

Okay to view your Glowing Object you must click the Icon Which looks like a Director’s tool(The Right Side of a white box icon(With the Small Red Circle Indicator)) or the Icon that says “Render the Current Frame (Maya Software)” Click that icon.

[Macromedia Flash]: Basic Stickman Animation


Here I am again in my blog teaching you how to create a simple Stick man movement! When I say simple it is really simple, I just want you to learn what I learn from experimenting in Macromedia Flash so the GIF below will be the output when you follow the instructions that will be in the next paragraphs. By the way, I made my flash into GIF because i want you to see what will be the output after this blog post and I’m still not good in using Flash.


Well first if you haven’t used Macromedia Flash so Click “File” or (Alt + F) and then Click “New” then Choose “Flash Document”. I haven’t tried some other functions so… let’s stick with the Flash Document.

Creating a Scenery

By default your current is layer 1 and there is the Timeline and the Timeline is distinguished by frames, look on the image that there are 5, 10, 15 etc. in the Timeline that is a frame and are you thinking how many seconds does a frame does? Well, when you looked closely again below the Timeline there is a “12.0 fps” meaning 12 Frames per Second. If you want to adjust the Frames per Second double click that “12.0 fps”. Well this is Optional if you just want a simple Stick man animation without a fictional land to land on when their jumping. So choose the box option in the toolbox and for the colors(Below the View box) The white Pencil Icon(with a colored box beside) is like the border color of your specific shape or something like that while the Bucket Icon is for the color of the inside of a specific shape. In the image below my Border is Black while the Content is Brown.

Creating a New Layer

We will create a New Layer because we don’t want to draw the so called “Land” every frame so how do we create a new layer? Look at the image below. When you see this three Icons click the White flipped paper Icon and that is how to create a new layer. LOL

The Onion Skin

We need to enable Onion Skin before we start animating! So what does an Onion Skin do? Onion Skin enables you to see the previous frame with low opacity to ease our animation. So to enable Onion Skin Look at the image below again.When you see this three icons click the Icon which there is a Black and White paper combination. LOL

Drawing the Stick man!

Now lets go back when you clicked the new layer button you’ll be in the layer 2 right now. Well this is the most easiest part drawing the Stick man! Just draw a stick man using the brush tool and adjust the brush size. The Brush tool is beside the Yellow Pencil Icon.

Creating the Next Frame

Now when you’re done with the First frame of your Stick man Press “F7” it is a shortcut key to create a new frame. So when you create the next frame while the Onion Skin is enabled you will see the previous frame of your animation with low opacity and I have drawn the 2nd frame Stick man which is the Black Stick man.

For the 3rd frame you can still see the previous frames to know where to draw next so I will teach you a technique, when the Stick man jumps off  in a straight direction right click the 2nd frame(the 2nd box with a black dot in the Timeline) and then copy frame and then paste it(warning do not use CTRL + V, use right click then paste frame) into the 3rd frame then move it with the arrow keys to adjust it to its next movement. In case that you clicked somewhere and the stick man that you pasted does not move so click the 3rd frame box and move the arrow keys again. Now Continue doing that.

Now when if you decided to change the direction of your Stick man then Create the next frame and then Draw your desired Stick man and do the copy frame and paste frame and adjust. Like what I did below.

And then if you want to change direction again do the Draw the Stick man and then Create next frame and then Copy Frame and then Paste Frame and then adjust! and then and then and then LOL.

The Long Frame

Now Finally our Stick man landed so if you want to make the frame longer right click into your desired next frame so I chose 35th frame and right clicked there and next click Insert Keyframe. and it will create a long frame but it has no land to step on so click layer 1 and then right click again into the 35th frame and click Insert Keyframe to make it long too so that’s it the output is shown at the top by the way if you want to change the background color instead of white click the “12.0 fps” again or just double click it and then find the background color and then choose your desired color. [IT Guide]: Fixing folder’s disabled “hidden” property checkbox


Well do you feel annoyed when your Flash Drive becomes infected with a virus that creates new folders, duplicates your folders into shortcuts and when you clicked that shortcut the virus will surely infect your whole Flash Drive’s content making it hidden from until you set the folder options. So to make you read more I will be dissecting the information into parts up to the bottom of this blog post. In the image below you would be obviously know when your Flash Drive is corrupt when your Folders became Application types LOL.

Clean your Flash Drive!

Of course you must clean your Flash Drive first before you recover your files and something like that. So I will be recommending you Microsoft Essentials as your anti-virus software because it has good performance. The image below states the name of the virus or worm that infects your computer and there is a specific detail about what do the virus or worm do to your computer.

Now after cleaning your Flash Drive from viruses you could delete those obviously shortcuts or application types that has the same amount of file size. Like in the First Image there are multiple 200kb and 92kb file sizes. So Delete the shortcuts or application types without worrying and don’t delete which you think is not a shortcut or application types with the same size of those virus’ created shortcuts then your Flash Drive is good as nothing.

Step 1

If you know how to view the hidden folders proceed to Unticking the hidden property. Now for those who don’t well follow this guide. When you are using Windows 7 Click “Organize > Folder and Search Options” and the Folder Options will pop up and then click the “View” Tab and under the “Hidden Files and Folders” Choose “Show Hidden files, folders, or drives” and then next Uncheck the “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)” and then prompt will show up and choose yes and then apply. The virus that affect your Flash Drive makes all the folder hidden as an operating file system making it not only show when you just chose the “Show Hidden files, folders, or drives”.

Unticking the Hidden Property

Now in the image below you see that the supposed enabled check box for the hidden option has been disabled and you cannot make it to appear it again normally unless your folder view option is like that always where you see operating file systems and it’s kinda annoying(for me).

Open Command Prompt and then follow from the image below while I explain what are those you typed. Well before we fix a folder we must be in the Flash Drive’s Directory so I typed “E:” because the Letter Directory of the Flash Drive is E: for example you notice beside the Flash Drive’s Name “CODE WAPOW (E:)” so that’s it we’re now in your Flash Drive’s directory. Then, “attrib -s -h (Folder Name)” be aware when typing the Folder Name because it is Case Sensitive and doesn’t recognize Folder Name Spaces so before you start proceeding rename your Folder into a Non-Space name what I mean is there is no Space in the folder’s name for example is I renamed my folder into “CS5”. So when you entered that command the CS5 Folder is now fixed and the check box for the hidden property is now enabled again!

And Tada! the hidden folder “CS5” is not hidden anymore and the hidden property check box is now enabled too.

And when you adjust your folder view options again into the normal state where the “Don’t show Hidden files, folders, or drives” and the “Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)” are chosen the image below is the view leaving other unfixed folders hidden in order to fix all of your folders type them one by one in the command prompt so more folders? more trouble. So I will be giving a tip at the end of this post when this problem occurs again.

The Best TIP:

To lessen frustration when this occurs again and for those who are not yet affected, Try going to the drive first (E:) then type “attrib -s -h /s /d” in the command prompt then all folders is now fixed!

[Adobe Photoshop]: How to make a Simple GIF Text


The Program we will use is obviously Adobe Photoshop and I will be discussing this sort of simple text animation that fades in and fades out. It is sometimes a good design for a website but too much of it can make your browser slow if your computer is slow of course and it can be used in videos as well for a nice introduction. Well the output of our discussion is the image below or the GIF below and it is the simplest of GIFs. It is quite simple to make this one. Fading text is better than a blinking text that looks like an advertisement besides your favorite websites or some. When our Professor introduced us Flash It is hard in some part and I think Photoshop is good for simple GIF. So bare with me!


In creating that kind of GIF I used 400 x 250 dimensions and here we go again with the large images! Barely you can see the instructions though.

And then click on the window tab and click Animation so we can see the Timeline/Frame or something like that and I changed the background to a gradient black and purple. Sorry I don’t know what does it called hahaha.

Now the Timeline will show up below the work space and you should click the button below that message to convert it to Frame animation.

Now will be advancing the image yet I will still discuss what you should do. As you can see in the image below that it has two frames. In the previous image once you click the Convert into Frame animation there will be only one frame showed in that box so to duplicate your current Frame you must click the Icon to the right of that circles thingy and you will have two frames now.

Okay in the image below I inputted a text so as you can see again in the Frame animation window the Second frame also has the text “Wapow” so in order to hide it in the Second frame and all the frames. Once you click the eye icon beside the text’s layer it hides it all into other frames.

Now don’t look the image below if you didn’t finish this paragraph or you’ll get confused. Like I said when you click the layer visibility in the First frame the text “Wapow” will be hidden into other frames so in order to show the text in the Second frame. Select first the Second frame and then click again the eye icon beside the text’s layer to show it up in the second frame and it will not show up in the first frame. The purpose of getting the first frame without a text is because our GIF animation will be starting with just a background.

Okay before we continue I noticed that are Frame hop is 10 seconds before it goes to the next frame so to adjust it click the 10 seconds below the thumbnail of the frame and for a smooth frame per second is set it to no delay.

I noticed again that our GIF will be moving only once and when the final frame ends our GIF will stop so in order to loop it forever you can see the image below that you must click that once button and click the Forever or you can specify on how many loops before it stops. In a video setting it must not loop but it must animate once.

Okay now we adjusted the loop and the Frame hop we can continue and I will introduce you to the button “Tween” and its icon is that circles thingy beside the duplicate button.  Tween is used to create frames for like how the next frames will be before the next original frame to appear or First frame shows up and there will be transitions before the Second Frame appears and quite confusing don’t you think? Once you see the image after we applied the tween you’re gonna understand it but first once you clicked that tween button a prompt will show up and ask you how many frames will be created before the Second frame shows up! and i choose 10 frames to add before the actual Second frame show up.

There you have it! The image below will tell you about the tween effect. It added frames between our Original First Frame and Second Frame with fading in text see the image below and look at the Frame animation window.

Now we have made the text to fade in so how about fading out? We’re gonna use the same process again. Duplicate the Last Frame and then set the text’s layer visibility and hide it again so when you tween it again the text will be fading out!

Now the image below will show you that your tween is correct when the added frames is fading out. You now know how to tween right?

Now the final process! It is not the ordinary way of saving a picture so how do you save a GIF image? Click File tab and find “Save for Web & Devices” and click and click OK then Tada! your work is finished! and for the output go back to introduction and you will see it again.

[Adobe Photoshop]: How to Create a Customized Brush!


Well obviously the program you should use is Adobe Photoshop. I learned it while clicking some buttons and etc. so I will share my knowledge about creating a simple customized brush! For me there are two kinds of how you put the brush: the normal way and the random way. Okay let me just now teach you how to create a simple customized brush!

Creating a Brush Design

Click “File then New” and set the Size to ” Height: 400 X Width: 250″ and it will look like the picture below. the next part will be a bit complicated so bare with me.

Okay you can use a random manual design, when I say manual it means that you inputted the design or drawn the design by means of your default brushes yet you can use any design from picture and something like that. For me I drawn three circles (with Outer Glow and Inner Glow) and the picture below is the output.

Now in here, I used a Gaussian Blur effect in the Filter tab(between the Select and Analysis) and then blur you will find there the Gaussian Blur in order to make a nice smooth brush not a solid one.

Creating the Normal way Brush!

go to the Edit(Beside the File tab) and then find the “Define Brush Preset” and the picture below will pop up. Don’t worry about the thumbnail of the brush that does not look like the one you drawn just Click OK. You have now a Normal way brush! to use it: Use your brush tool and then right click on the picture then find your brush! You can use the brush the way it was drawn in any color! not just black.

Creating a Random way Brush!

We will use the Normal way Brush in order to create a Random way Brush. So click the icon that looks like a cup with three brushes beside those RGB colors. Now to fasten our discussion check the Shape Dynamics and then adjust the Size Jitter to any percentage you like but for me I used 100%. This function enables a random size of your brush whenever you use it.

This will be the Example: there are Six clicks so you can determine their size difference and like I said it is random.

Now lets go back into the “Brush tab” and now adjust the Angle Jitter with any percentage you want and I used 100%. This function enables the brush to randomize the angle of each input of the brush.

This will be the Example: there are Seven clicks so you can see their angle difference and like I said it is randomized again.

Now go back where you found the “Shape Dynamics” and Check the “Scattering” and adjust the Scatter percentage. This function is used if you want to use your brush by dragging so it is scattered instead of straight line.

The Screenshot below is the output when you used the brush by dragging with the “Shape Dynamics” and “Scattering” Checked and Adjusted! It looks like falling paper clips lol and there you have it! You have now a Random way Brush!

Applying your Brush into a Photo

Well as you can see I used my customized brush using white color! In addition with the Brush mode of Multiply and the Layer mode of Overlay that makes it really cool in my photo. Well thanks for reading!

[RPGXP]: Wapow’s Story


Well this is my RPGXP Custom made Game titled “Wapow’s Story” it is an incomplete game because due to an unknown error in the coding of the battle system that it wont let me modify the whole game itself so bad luck again in Game Programming and it was made at year 2010. RPGXP is a program which you can make 2D Role Playing Games the best example for this is Final Fantasy I-VI, Well if you aren’t familiar with the switch cases, loops, coordinates,map design, pathways, sprites, events, timing, frames, damage formula and many more, RPGXP will be hard for you but it is worth learning for because it has easy functions. The basic battle system of this program is “turn based” but i want to be unique so I got some coding of “real time” battle system. So I will show the screenshots and narrate the story before the game corrupted.

The Starting Screen

Well of course the Starting screen must be very cool so I used Adobe Photoshop and some codes in which I can use custom made Starting Screen and whether the user wants to choose from new game, load game and quit game. If the font color of the menu is light blue it is selected while if the font color is in gray there is no  saved games available.

Upon selecting the new game it will go to the start of the game.

Short Scene

These are the automatic events which the user cannot walk the player and the background music plays. The showing of text will be like the character is talking. As you can see there are rocks beside the river it is like a fence in order to prohibit the character to go inside the river and it looks weird though well it will be gonna be long in here because it is not moving lol.

Then kids will appear in that certain region and will now walk forward as my code wants.

Then the kids will stop at that coordinates and then will go face the main character and the kids will now talk I mean the text will now show!

Then after they said that “what a lovely day” I inputted a rainy weather and in this screenshot of course the rain will not move but inside the game the rain is moving I mean falling lol.

After you pressed the enter key the kids will now go home and after those kids stepped in an event tile they will disappear!

Then the screen will be playing sound effects of killing people like “aaaaa! oooh!” just like that and the screen will be flashing red indicating that there is bloodshed happening and Wapow will now notice the kids goes to the town.

Now after Wapow stepped into that event tile it will activate the switch which allows the angels and the kids appear, the background music changes to tense and they will now talk.

After pressing the enter key the Hit points and Skill points with your current level will now show at the top left corner so they will talk again.

After that long talk I inputted a special effects on the kids and will now disappear after their magic circle thingy ends and when the kids disappear I used a smokey effect to appear the whole screen.

The Battle System

Now the Game itself will now start here so I used a transparent show text and placed it in the middle showing the mission and the timer and the controls of the game.

Now the Battle System is not the default turn based system there is a cool down which the user can only attack a certain amount of milliseconds and it can be adjusted for faster weapons and the damage varies in your weapon, defense of the enemy and the enemy has a slight of evasion. Whenever an Enemy dies you will have EXP!

and that’s it this is the end of my corrupted game quite disappointing though mission complete and I didn’t do the defend button because it’s hard timing.
